The Canal Society of Ohio, founded in 1961, is a non-profit organization dedicated to the study and preservation of the canals of Ohio. "Towpaths", a quarterly publication, is devoted to canal history and related topics. A separate newsletter reviews items of current interest. Extensive research material is available in the CSO archives.

The Canal Society is a sponsor of the Ohio Greenways project and actively encourages the involvement of other groups interested in the canals of Ohio.

In the spring and fall of each year the Canal Society sponsors a weekend tour of a selected canal segment, usually in Ohio. Regional activity takes places throughout the year.

Publications and tour guides may be obtained from the Corresponding Secretary by clicking the "Publications" link Above.
